The consultation helps them to break down the timeline for them:

Here’s what you want to do first

Here’s what you want to do after that

These are the things you need to pack up

And so I give them a blueprint about how to go about the whole preparation phase of their house.

In the case of Carole and her husband, Dave, I did the consultation almost a year before they were ready to put it on the market because they knew they needed to do some painting. They knew they needed to thin out some of their furniture. There was a lot they knew they needed to do.

So when the time came, after I did the consultation, they went through their full list. They were wonderful. They did everything I had suggested. In some cases, that’s adequate for people to put their house on the market. To have the consultation, because there aren’t as many things that need to be done by a professional.

But in their case, they had me do the presentation part of it, which means I went there for a couple of days, and I brought in art work, accessories, window treatments. It just needed some ramping up, a little bit to have more impact.

they were very supportive. When it was put on the market it was February, 2017. It was during a horrible time with weather. We had one storm after the other. but even in spite of that, they had two offers on the house.

So my ideal person is someone who contacts me ahead of time and is open to doing a lot of prep work.

If they need someone to do the painting, or change out the lighting fixtures, and they don’t have an electrician. If they need resources, in many cases, I can provide names of people that can do the work.
